Andean Speckled Bears

There is no place like home!

Ecuador

A recent trip had me high up in the Andean mountains looking for a rare opportunity to photograph the Andean Speckled Bear.  The adventure was one of the most physically challenging trips that I have been on, but was rewarded with the most incredible opportunity to capture these elusive bears.

These images are of two cubs, who were spending their last days with their mother before she would leave them to fend for themselves.

The fig trees that we found them in where not only a source of food, but also protection and a place to play.
